Who We Are
Founded in 1940,
Maude Eaton has a history of bringing the outdoor
experience to a diverse population of girls. We
take pride in the quality of our staff and our
commitment to girl planning. Girls at camp are
offered the opportunity to plan all camps, special
events, and their daily activities.
A ratio of 1 counselor
to 6 campers is typical. Campers are placed in
units by age. Counselors are responsible for the
conduct of the unit and working with the girls
to ensure a great session is had by all. Counselors
must be fun-loving, patient and genuinely concerned
for the welfare and development of young people.
Camp
Maude Eaton is known for the maturity, quality
and the caring attitude of its counselors. We
are proud that many of our staff members return
year after year. All of our staff members are
selected entirely on the basis of their ability
to effectively relate to children.
The entire counselor
staff, both new and old, attend 24 hours of training
before the beginning of camp. Pre-camp training
is a time for staff members to get to know each
other and build the team for summer. There usually
are sessions around safety, badge work, late nights,
working with kids skills, and plenty of time to
learn songs, games, and outdoor skills.
A bond that binds
the entire Maude Eaton staff is an unrelenting
commitment to help each girl enjoy every day of
her summer at camp.
