Girl Scout Gold Award

Highest Award for Girls Ages 14-17

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout 14-17 may earn. Someone once described the Girl Scout Gold Award as being "what you really want to be remembered for" in Girl Scouting. For many, the leadership skills, organizational skills, and sense of community and commitment that come from "going for the Gold" set the foundation for a lifetime of active citizenship.

Note: All girls who wish to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award need to attend one of the MANDATORY Gold Award Orientations offered during the year in October, February, and April. See the Program Packet for this year's dates. The orientation sessions are for girls and their advisors, and are appropriate once you have finished your Gold Leadership Award and Gold Career Award. They cover topics like: how to develop a challenging project, public relations, recruiting volunteers, successful documentation, expectations of the Gold Award Committee, the interview process, and much more.

Group Project Guidelines and Money Earning

Many girls have questions about raising money as part of the Gold project. Crystal-clear money-earning guidelines can be found on GSUSA site. Here's help as you face the financial challenges of going for the Gold. Any questions you might have on what’s appropriate and what’s not are addressed here.
