Kits are available for Troop Volunteers. Kits are located at the
North
Andover Office as well as the Lynn
and Lowell
Branch Offices. Each kit may be rented for a two week period for
a $5 rental fee. Please call your Branch
Office at least one week in advance to reserve your kit.
Ocean
Commotion!
Do you like the ocean? Spar and Spindle has a brand new patch program
called "Ocean Commotion!" This program is available to
Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, and Seniors!
Water,
Water Everywhere
Explore the amazing world of water with this program kit. Activities
include: plankton sampling, a demonstration of the water cycle,
comparing fresh and salt water, and "making" water in
a solar still. Complete the kit and fulfill the requirements for
the Water Wonders Badge.
Find Your
Way
Have you ever had trouble finding your way through the woods or
around town? Take the time to study different types of maps, learn
to read them, even create one of your own. Also learn how to use
a compass with the program kit designed especially for Junior Girl
Scouts to help meet the requirements for the Finding Your Way Badge.
Ecology
Have you ever wondered how old your favorite climbing tree is? How
animals and plants work together in one environment? Girls can use
the activities in this kit to observe plant life, track animal behavior,
and explore the natural world around them. Girls are also introduced
to the harmful conditions our environment faces today while fulfilling
the requirements for the Ecology Badge.
Plants
Plants have a wide variety of uses in our lives. How many can you
think of? Use the program kit to explore the importance of plant
life to us as well as the rest of the environment. Prepare all plant
meal, adopt-a-tree, and create a food chain. This kit is for Brownie
Girl Scouts and fulfills the requirements for the Plants Try-It.
Space Explorer
Transform your girls into space explorers using the activities and
material included in this kit. Make a model rocket, spend the night
gazing at the stars and identifying constellations, and learn to
tell time using a sundial. Share Native American tales of the stars
and their movements. These activities are perfect for Brownie Girl
Scouts and fulfill the requirements for the Space Explorer Try-It.
Friends
Around the World
With this kit, girls will explore the songs, uniforms, and customs
of Girl Guides from around the world. Use this kit to help in the
count down to Thinking Day and plan a Ceremony of International
Friendship using what has been learned. The program links for this

World Try-Its as well as the On My Way Badge.
Organized
Sports, Nutrition & Wellness, Fitness & Health
Check out these three super sports-packed program kits filled with
nutrition activities, girl power games, health and fitness programs,
energy-burning exercises, and endorphin-frenzied fun! These kits
are sure to get your blood pumping, muscles moving, and your brain
thinking! The activities are appropriate for Brownie and Junior
Girl Scouts and can be adapted accordingly.
Doing It
Differently
This kit will give Girl Scouts the opportunity to explore ways that
people with disabilities do things. The stories and activities in
this kit will introduce your troop to real people with disabilities.
Girls will learn about the different ways people see, hear, talk,
and learn, and have fun while developing a true understanding of
the many ways that people live their lives. The program links for

Connections Issues for Girls, and Focus on Ability serving Girls
with Special Needs.
Discovering
Art
In this kit you will find resources to the National Museum of Women
in the Arts Girl Scout Patch Program. This program focuses on visual
arts created by women artists. Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts will
complete the activities found in the Museum Guide booklet to earn
the patch. Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts can earn the patch by
completing the 5 requirements, one of which is to help a younger
troop in earning the patch. The program links for this kit include

Project.
Womens
History
The history of women can be a fascinating way to look to the future.
By researching women in a variety of backgrounds a girl will learn
how they too are important for the things that they do now and in
the future. Find out how women finally were able to vote. Take a
tour of the Spar & Spindle Womens History Trail. The Greater
Boston area offers many ideal field trips for this interest area.

Music Makers
Do your girls have an interest in music? In this kit find resource
ideas for making all kinds of "junk" instruments. Listen
to different kinds of music and learn the history of their beginnings.
Find fun ways to introduce girls to "classical" pieces.
Create your own musical performance and let every girl be a star!

the World
Need a resource for directions to a Chinese Jump Rope or how about
the many variations of "Checkers" like games? In this
kit you will find the games you may be searching for and more! Many
can be made with the simple materials for your international day
of fun. Share your new skills in a neighborhood event. The program

Discovery
Have you ever wondered why ultra-thin diapers absorb liquid so well?
What do magnets and instant oatmeal have in common? What is life
like through the eyes of an ant? Find out these answers and more
with this hands-on science kit with program adaptations geared for
all ages! Activities in this kit are designed to meet some requirements
for the Science in Action Badge and Try-It and the Why in the World?
Interest Project.

Sampler
What does a scientist look like? What do scientists do? Transform
your troop into scientists using the activities and materials included
in this program kit. Make a toy that uses science and math, explore
your fingerprints what are they and why are they important?
Activities in the kit are ideal for Brownie and Junior Girls Scouts,
and meet requirements for the Science in Action Badge and Try-It.
GirlSports
Basics
The GirlSports Basics kit delivers a safe, step-by-step introduction
to 10 basic sports skills including locomotion and agility, throwing,
catching, volleying, striking, batting, dribbling, and passing.
The game and activity formats help girls learn the concepts of fair
play and cooperation.
GirlSports Basics is
fun for the girls and EASY for the Girl Scout Leader! No previous
sports experience is necessary and the activities can be used in
a variety of settings. Each Daisy and Brownie Girl Scout who participates
is eligible to receive a colorful participation patch.
